We traded for the vehicle several years ago. The owner of the dealership decided to have this FJ40 completely restored. We sent it to Mo and Curley's Rod and Custom in Clinton Tn. In less than one week the cruiser was COMPLETELY disassembled!!! I mean down to the bare frame...This Land cruiser was in hundreds if not thousands of pieces. As the Parts Manager on the dealership i was able to drive down on several occasions and check this thing out. It was truely amazing to in the beginning drive it to the shop and less than a week later to see it all tore apart. We brought the engine, transmission, transfer case and both front and rear diffs for our Toyota Techs to rebuild. That itself was a huge task. I know we made more that 2 trips to pick these items up. The body had several dents and over the years someone added a 2nd gas tank and cut a hugh hole in the lh 1/4 panel. After talking it over with the shop owner we decide to order new 1/4s and a new floor to rebuild the tub section. We also decide to put new fenders and hood on it aswell. We figured why stop now if were gonna build the nicest Landcruiser around, you cant fill it full of bondo. After seeing the cruiser all apart i knew i had better start ordering Nos parts from toyota. Some items are stocked in Japan and takes a few months to get. Im thinking we spent over $25000.00 in new Genuine Toyota parts for this project.
